The sport of bodybuilding is arguably not for the faint-hearted. It requires a lot of dedication and determination on the athlete’s part. However, unfortunately, there are instances when the athlete is giving their best, and some external factors get the better of a bodybuilder. Injuries, mental breakdowns, unhealthy relationships with food, etc., are pretty common when it comes to bodybuilding athletes. Making a shocking announcement recently, was IFBB pro bodybuilder Brett Wilkin, who revealed that because he has a high metabolism, he needs to eat a lot of food to retain and gain size.

Unfortunately, things are not going as he planned, and he is having a lot of trouble getting those calories. As a result of poor eating, his performance in the gym was also affected. Due to all this, he decided not to compete in this year’s Mr. Olympia. While this came as a surprise to almost everyone, the bodybuilding community tried their best to cheer up Wilkin and commented with kind words on his Instagram post.

Wilkin recently took it to his Instagram and announced via a long and detailed video that he would unfortunately not be participating in this year’s Olympia due to health reasons. Starting the video, he confessed, “I will not be competing at the Mr. Olympia here in four weeks’ time. Probably the worst thing that I can say because I’ve spent the last now, it’s been a year, you know, preparing for this moment, this weekend coming ahead.”

Further, he explained that he is unable to eat in surplus in order to gain or maintain muscle mass. To make things worse, he is suffering from vomiting and “diarrhea issues.” He added, “I was vomiting you know, a meal or two a day, which I would then try to replace. I was nauseous, I was dizzy.”
