Arnold Schwarzenegger worked his way up in the bodybuilding arena by lifting weights at the gym for long hours. His ripped physique fetched him prestigious titles, including seven Sandow trophies. However, when he decided to leave the sports arena for acting, the transition wasn’t easy. Amidst criticism for his thick accent and bodybuilder physique, Schwarzenegger received a warm tap on the shoulder from one of the most influential women in the acting arena, Lucille Ball. 

A clip that featured Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lucille Ball resurfaced on the internet recently, earning the late actress respect from fans for supporting The Terminator star. 

The bond between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lucille Ball 

The Austrian Oak was unbeatable in the bodybuilding arena, but Hollywood was not optimistic about his success initially. Even when he was criticized for his Austrian accent and ripped physique, Schwarzenegger never lost hope. The 76-year-old once narrated how Lucille Ball called him after being impressed by a talk show he appeared in and offered him a small role in Happy Anniversary and Goodbye, a movie starring herself. Schwarzenegger played the role of Rico, a massage therapist to Ball’s character, Norma Michaels.

Hollywood Horror Museum shared a clip from the movie on X. The scene depicts Rico coming to Michael’s home to give her a massage as she is jaw-dropped to witness his jacked frame. “Arnold Schwarzenegger owes his acting career to Lucille Ball who hired him in 1974 for her TV special,” the post stated. It also claimed that their bond lasted till her sad demise 34 years ago, and she sent special notes to Arnie after watching each of his films. Many on the social media website were moved by the post and poured their thoughts into the comments section.

Hollywood fans love Schwarzenegger for his superior action stunts in his films. Knowing that Lucille Ball believed in his talent and offered him one of his earliest roles, fans couldn’t praise her enough.
