A typical triathlon meet consists of three events: swimming, running, and cycling. Being a focused and determined athlete, Baena prefers cycling as part of his cardio sessions. As he recently competed in the ‘Malibu Triathlon,’ he reveals that ahead of his birthday, doing this makes him proud of himself for taking up an exciting challenge.

As part of an Instagram post, he shared a few photos and videos of himself from the event. Sharing his experience, he wrote in the caption, “Competed in my first triathlon today!”

Continuing further, he wrote,  “What a great experience it was to compete with such amazing athletes. With my birthday coming up I wanted to challenge myself in a new way, I feel like I did really well and I’m proud of myself for going the distance.” He also gave an exciting take on muscles. He said, “I truly believe that if you have muscles, you should be able to use them!”

Except for cycling which Baena regularly indulges in as part of his cardio, he was also knee-deep into swimming growing up. Baena has been open about his struggles with weight-related issues. As a solution to this, he took up swimming, which helped him a lot.

Being overweight or under-weight can surely be taxing for a person as it messes with their confidence and mental health. Having faced similar battles, Baena was even rejected from both basketball and soccer teams because he was “athletically inclined but chubby.”

However, “The turning point came when his buddy Cesar tried to badger him into joining the swim team. Baena balked, worried about how he’d look in a Speedo. But Cesar was relentless, and swimming had one big advantage over the other sports: to which Baena says, “There was no tryout.”
